Last night, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended a black-tie gala preview screening of Sir David Attenborough's film, Natural History Museum Alive 3D, which "brings to life" it's prehistoric inhabitants. Catherine, who is patron of the museum in London, wore the glamorous black lace Temperley evening gown for the third time, looking as beautiful as she did on the other two pre-baby events. If you're in need of a show-stealing dress for a formal occasion, why not take some inspiration from the Duchess of Cambridge? As she has demonstrated, a black lace dress such as this is a timeless item which can be worn again and again! Sadly Kate's dress has sold out but it also came with a hefty price tag of US$2500. Thankfully there are many similar dresses available at more accessible prices. Now, back to tonight's outfit. Kate accessorized the dress with her Jimmy Choo Cosmic pumps in black suede which are available at Net-a-Porter for US$695 Kate wore her favourite diamond bracelet and earrings set which were a gift from Prince Charles. For the third outing in a row, the Duchess has worn her new Mappin & Webb 'Fortune' necklace. She wore it earlier today to South Africa House and last week on her solo visit to the Shooting Stars Children's Hospice. You can read full details of tonight's event here.
Today, the Duchess of Cambridge brought some early Christmas cheer to seriously ill children and their parents at the Shooting Star House Children’s Hospice in Hampton, England. She viewed the facilities and met with volunteers. She spent time with the sick children and participated in the musical therapy and art classes. Kate also entertained the children with a hand puppet. Catherine looked beautiful in a contemporary grey jacket from high-street label Reiss. The Reiss 'Delaney' coat is a collarless jacket with seam detailing, a flared fit, slit pockets, and fastens with a single concealed button. It retailed for £275 but has now sold out. Kate styled the tailored coat with casual navy corduroy stretch skinny jeans. These remain unidentified but they are believed to be from J Brand, one of Kate's favourite denim labels. She wore her pants tucked into adorable 'Neptune' wedge booties from Aquatalia. In the UK, these booties are also known as the Russell and Bromley New-Dry style. The suede weather-proof ankle boots are trimmed with rabbit fur and retail for US$450. The Duchess accessorised her outfit with Kiki McDonough diamond and green amethyst earrings and a new necklace which 'My Small Obsessions' has confirmed is the 'Fortune Drop Necklace' by Mappin & Webb. You can read full details of today's event here.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge walked the red carpet this evening at the UK premiere of Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom, a film celebrating Nelson Mandela's life.
Before the screening the royal couple met with the film’s cast and crew and also spoke with Mandela’s daughter, Zindzi Mandela.
For tonight's event, Kate brought back the off-white Roland Mouret 'Lombard' gown which she previously wore in May 2012 to the Thirty Club dinner at Claridge's in London.
Kate accessorised with a striking statement necklace which is a costume piece from Zara. The 'Sparkly Bead Crystal Necklace' has a modest price tag of only £20. It is still available at select stores but has sold out online. There are also a few popping up on eBay.
Kate's affinity for suede accessories was reaffirmed tonight when she choose to complete her outfit with a new pair of black suede pumps and clutch bag. The clutch is the £495 Mulberry 'Bayswater' and is still available in a variety of colours and textures. It is believed Kate first carried this clutch to last month's Remembrance Sunday service.
Kate's black suede pumps are by Prada. The Italian made round-toe heels feature leather insole and lining, suede leather outsole, low-cut vamp and 4 1/4 inch suede covered high heel. They are available for US$650 at Neiman Marcus.
Sadly, during the screening of the movie, news broke of the death of Nelson Mandela. It was a poignant moment for the Duke and Duchess, and William made a brief statement after the movie and said "It was extremely sad and tragic news. "We were just reminded of what an
extraordinary and inspiring man Nelson Mandela was and my thoughts and prayers are with him and his family right now." |
