Within an hour of arriving in New York, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge headed out to attend a private Royal Foundation reception dinner at the plush Manhattan apartment of English businessman Martin Sorrell. Kate stepped out from The Carlyle Hotel, where they are staying during their 3 day trip, wearing a new black fit and flare lace cocktail dress from Beulah London. The style is called 'Amara' and is from the Spring Summer 2015 collection. The dress has an embroidered organza which overlays a silk crepe de chine lining. It is currently available for pre-order and will set you back £650. Kate also donned a new pair of statement earrings. As yet, no details have emerged regarding the designer. 16/12/2014 UPDATE: The amazing Facebook community of My Small Obsessions have identified Kate's stunning earrings as the Kenneth Jay Lane Silvertone Crystal Earrings (€262). It was refreshing to see the Duchess wear jewellery from an American costume jewelry designer, and a fitting choice for her first night in New York. She accessorized with familiar pieces, carrying her Mulberry 'Bayswater' black suede clutch (£495) and wearing her Stuart Weistzman 'Power' pumps (US$335), also rendered in black suede. Tomorrow the Duke and Duchess will have separate agendas. Prince William will travel to Washington to meet US president Barack Obama, while Kate will visit a Harlem-based organisation for child development. They will reunited in the evening and attend a NBA basketball match in Brooklyn, where they will watch local team the Brooklyn Nets take on the Cleveland Cavaliers. SHOP KATE'S STYLE ... The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge touched down in New York this afternoon for their whirlwind three day visit. The royal couple are staying at the famed Carlyle Hotel for the duration of their trip. Kate arrived at the luxury hotel wearing a stunning purple plum boucle coat. The maternity coat is the bespoke 'Marina' style by British label, Seraphine. Kate carried her black suede Stuart Weitzman 'Muse' clutch (£255). We also saw the return of her beautiful diamond deco style earrings. The Duchess wore black opaque tights with a pair of black suede ankle boots which are yet to be identified. It has been suggested that they may be an old pair she has owned since 2009. A follower of the Kate's Closet Facebook page has made an astute observation, suggesting that Kate may have worn the Topshop contrast collar dress under the Seraphine coat. The side-by-side photo below does show a strong similarity to the occasion when she wore it under her Goat 'Redgrave' coat when she was pregnant with Prince George. Tonight they will attend a private Royal Foundation reception dinner at the plush Manhattan apartment of English businessman Martin Sorrell. SHOP KATE'S STYLE ... This evening, the Duke & Duchess of Cambridge were the guests of honour at the Royal Variety Performance at the Palladium Theatre in London. This is the first time William and Kate have attended the show which is traditionally reserved for senior members of the Royal family. Their presence tonight reflects their growing role within the monarchy. Kate looked stunning in a black lace dress, wearing the DVF 'Zarita' gown. The Zarita is a full length lace gown with a fitted bodice and waist, which opens into a sweeping fluted hem. It has 3/4 sheer lace sleeves, scalloped lace detail at the neckline and v-shaped back. It retails from £780 and is available from DVF UK, Net-a-Porter and Boutique 1. The 'Zarita' style is also available in a cocktail length and comes in a range of colours. On her feet were her Jimmy Choo Cosmic Platform Pumps (US$695). She carried her sparkly black bead clutch bag first seen last month at the Action on Addiction gala. It remains unidentified. Kate added a hint of colour to her otherwise all-black attire wearing her Kiki McDonough Lola blue topaz hoop earrings. The next announced engagement for the Duchess will be on 19th November, where she will attend Place2Be Wellbeing in Schools Awards hosted at the Kensington Palace State Apartments.
Today, the Duchess of Cambridge attended the SportAid athlete workshop at the GSK Human Performance Lab in Brentford, West London. Catherine has been Patron of SportsAid since 2013, reflecting her support for the charity which is helping the next generation of British sporting talent. SportsAid offers financial and practical assistance to young athletes, helping them fulfill their ambitions and potential. At the workshop the Duchess met SportsAid athletes as they undertook a number of advanced performance assessments. Some of these young athletes are destined for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic games. After a tour of the world-class facility, the Duchess was invited to undertake two cognitive tests to experience firsthand some of the training done by the athletes. Kate looked stylish and comfortable in the iris 'Vreeland' dress from Goat Fashion. The plum hued shirt dress is rendered in a light wool crepe and has a fit and flare silhouette. The collared dress features a buttoned bodice and cuffs, a self belt with colour matched buckle, and concealed side zip closure. The dress will set you back £450 and is currently available in limited sizes. It is also on sale at Diani Boutique for US$580 in an 'iron' hue. Today, Kate also wore a new pair of black suede boots, the 'Half N Half Stretch Rider' by Stuart Weitzman from Russell and Bromley. The knee-high boots have a stretch panel on the back and suede on the front, with a low 4 cm stacked block heel. Stuart Weitzman also offers a few equivalent styles with very subtle differences. This morning, members of the royal family attended the annual Remembrance Sunday commemorations at the Cenotaph in Whitehall, London. The Duchess of Cambridge attended the ceremony and watched the service from the Foreign Office balcony alongside the Duchess of Cornwall and the Countess of Wessex. It is customary for royal women to wear black for the somber occasion. This year, Catherine wore a new fit-and-flare black coat from Alexander McQueen. The double-breasted pure wool coat has a military-inspired design featuring an oversized lapel, a nipped waist with buttons, and a softly pleated flared skirt. There is also a shorter version of the coat. It was a surprise to see Kate and Sophie wear the same coat style. It's believed Kate wore the longer version while Sophie the shorter one. Kate's jewellery included her sapphire and diamond earrings, Mappin & Webb 'Empress' necklace and ared poppy-shaped brooch given to her by the wife of Victoria cross recipient Corporal Ben Roberts-Smith while on tour Australia. The brooch is the Russian Imperial Crimson Anemone Pin from the Metropolitan Museum of Art store. It originally retailed for US$85 but is no longer available. Kate's V-neckline revealed a ruffled trimmed black dress under the coat. It has been suggested that it could be the frock she wore to lunch at Belgravia restaurant with Prince William & Pippa prior to the wedding in April 2011. The Duchess topped off her outfit with a black Jane Corbett bowler-styled hat featuring a large sweeping bow adorned with studs. She wore this headpiece to her first Remembrance Sunday service in 2011. 12/11/2014 UPDATE: The dress Kate wore under her Alexander McQueen black flare coat has been identified as the BCBGMAXAZRIA Tuxedo Trim Matte Jersey Dress. The matte jersey frock features a mandarin collar and a split neckline with charmeuse ruffle trim. The cap-sleeve dress also pleating below the banded waist. The dress is from about 2008 and we can now confirm it is the one Kate wore to lunch at Belgravia restaurant in April 2011 (photo above). The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge spent the day in Wales, visiting the Valero oil refinery on the Pembrokeshire coast to commemorate its 50th anniversary.
The refinery was officially opened in 1964 by the Queen Mother and it has since become a major contributor to the local economy, employing 1,200 people and supplying more than 10% of the UK's fuel.
Upon arrival, Their Royal Highnesses viewed a display which chronicles the 50 year history of the refinery and its relationship with the community. They then met with refinery workers and various community organisations who are supported by the refinery.
The visit concluded with a performance by the Young Actors Studio who works in partnership with the refinery through the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. Kate and William unveiled a plaque and a painting by a local artist upon departure.
The double-breasted wool coat is from the Autumn/Winter 2014 collection. The colour is described as Pacific Opal blue. The coat fastens with silver-tone dome buttons at the front, as well as a concealed button in the interior. It is fully lined in a printed silk - tiny blue star constellations on a black silk background. There is a vent at the bottom of the centre back for a comfortable fit. Double pockets feature on each side.
This is only the second occasion the Duchess has worn a Matthew Williamson design. Back in 2012 she wore a customised Matthew Williamson sheath dress to the Premiere of 'African Cats'.
Today we saw the return of Kate's beloved Aquatalia 'Rhumba' black suede boots, a style she has worn since February 2011.
She also carried her black Stuart Weitzman 'Muse' Clutch in black suede.
We got a glimpse of a brown shirt dress under the coat.
The girls at What Kate Wore were quick to identify the dress. It is the Hobbs London animal print shirt dress in light bitter chocolate brown. The classic style shirt dress features a tonal animal-print embossed silk jacquard with a covered placket and coordinating belt. It is currently on sale at Hobbs and John Lewis for £118.
After the visit, Kate and William - who is the vice patron of the Welsh Rugby Union traveled to the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff to attend the Rugby Union international match between Wales and Australia. During half-time, the royal couple meet privately with injured servicemen in the President's Box.
The Duchess of Cambridge, who is patron of the charity Action on Addiction, attended their black-tie Autumn Gala dinner this evening. Kate stepped out on to the pink carpet at the L'Anima Restaurant in London's East End, looking radiant in a new Temperley London frock. The piece is from Alice Temperley's pre-fall 2014 collection, the brand’s Emblem Flare dress. The knee-length black dress features sheer chevron-style panels overlaying a nude slip. It is “inspired by stained glass ironwork and woven from a lightweight cotton-blend yarn.” The design is finished with a bateau neckline and a scoop back. It retails for £595. Temperley London also offers two other styles with the 'Emblem' design, a bodycon dress and long-sleeve top. Kate added a thin black bow belt to enhance the waist of the dress. The Duchess wore her black suede Jimmy Choo Cosmic Platform Pumps (US$695). Tonight, Kate carried a "new" black beaded clutch with a fan motif on the flap. Anna from My Small Obsessions believes the bag may be an older piece, carried during the wedding of Mel Nicholson & Oli Baker in May 2010. The Duchess kept her jewellery simple, wearing her diamond deco-style drop earrings. SHOP KATE'S GALA STYLE FOR LESS ... |
