Today, the Duchess of Cambridge returned to royal duties, visiting Barlby Primary School in London for her first engagement of 2015. Catherine's visit to the school was part of her ongoing commitment to The Art Room charity of which she is Royal Patron. Today's visit marked the official naming of the Clore Art Room.
The Art Room is a charity aimed at 5 - 16 year olds, offering art as therapy to increase children’s self-esteem, self-confidence and independence. During her visit, Kate had an opportunity to meet some of the children who are benefiting from The Art Room therapy and are working to overcome their emotional and behavioural difficulties.
Later, Kate joined a round-table discussion with education professionals, a child and adolescent psychiatrist, Dame Vivien Duffield, Chair of the Clore Duffield Foundation, and Patron, Grayson Perry.
For her first day back at work, Kate debuted a new dress from Madderson London, a British label which is also new to Kate's closet. The premier of this brand caused the Madderson website to crash thanks to the "Kate Effect"!
The Duchess wore the £450 'Naomi' shift dress which takes inspiration from the style of 1960's. The dress is rendered in navy wool and trimmed with pink patterned French tweed.
Madderson has many other pieces on sale in the French tweed fabric used in Kate's trim.
Kate accessorized the new frock with familiar pieces. On her feet were the black suede Episode 'Angel' pumps which coordinated perfectly with her Mulberry 'Bayswater' clutch bag.
We also see the return of her Ballon Bleu de Cartier Stainless Steel Bracelet Watch.
She finished the look with her sapphire and diamond oval drop earrings.
Tomorrow, Kate will attend an event hosted by The Fostering Network to celebrate the work of foster carers in providing support to vulnerable young people.
