The Duke and Duchess were given a chance to freshen up following their late morning arrival at the Taj Palace Hotel. After having lunch and a brief break, the royal couple left The Taj and headed to Oval Maidan for an afternoon of sporting activities.
William and Kate then got competitive and played a game of cricket with underprivileged children from the nearby slums.
Kate also showed off her prowess with a soccer ball.
During the afternoon, the Duke & Dcuhess took an open top bus ride with children from the charity Apnalaya, another local charity that works with the children in Mumbai’s slums.
Following the physical activities at Oval Maidan, The Duke and Duchess made their way to the Banganga Water Tank. Banganga is an ancient water tank in the Malabar Hill area of Mumbai. William and Kate were given a traditional welcome and placed petals in the water as part of the ceremony.
The royal couple finished the day with a visit to the Banganga community slums.
Kate wore a breezy georgette tunic dress from Mumbai local designer Anita Dongre. Anita's designs showcase Indian aesthetics with a modern sensibility. Kate's Jaipur pattered dress is a modified piece based on a design from Dongre's Spring/Summer 2016 Love Notes collection.
The Telegraph reports that Kate's PA/stylist, Natasha Archer had altered Dongre’s catwalk design. The 'Gulrukh' dress was originally full length and included a traditional stole in matching fabric. Dongre explained the modification to The Telegraph: “Her stylist has taken the stole and converted part of that into the belt and then chopped it off so it can be worn as a dress.”
Kate teamed the dress with a new pair of taupe suede espadrilles.
I initially thought they were the Mint Velvet 'Grace' suede wedges, but the eagle-eyed @AnnieElizabethN pointed out that they have different platforms.
Following a couple false starts we finally resolved the identity of the shoes after @WWKD_Official suggested the Monsoon 'Fleur' wedges (£45.00)! This is the first time we have seen Kate wear this brand. Monsoon Accessorize is a British private limited company. It operates two international retail clothing chains – Monsoon and Accessorize.
Coincidentally, Kate also debuted earrings from Accessorize. The Bohemian style earrings will only set you back £8.00! These short-drop filigree earrings are beautifully detailed, and embellished with faceted beads and small, beaten coins. With thanks to Books, Berkins and Beauty for the ID!
Kate wore her Ray-Ban folding wayfarers sunglasses.
Stay tuned for more fashion news from this evening's Bollywood charity gala event!
