On Thursday, the Princess of Wales and First Lady Melania Trump welcomed Scouts from Lewisham to Frogmore Gardens, celebrating the values of community, leadership, youth development, and the great outdoors as part of the State Visit.
Princess Catherine and the First Lady spent time with the Scouts, learning about their projects and achievements while offering encouragement as they developed their skills.
The outdoor setting of Frogmore Gardens provided a picturesque backdrop, making the day both educational and enjoyable for all attendees.
For her engagement with the First Lady, the Princess of Wales embraced a polished, country-chic look, thoughtfully blending British and American brands in a subtle display of sartorial diplomacy.
We start with the $950 ME + EM Suede Cropped Military Jacket. Crafted from dark olive-green suede, this double-breasted, cropped jacket features military-inspired detailing and a structured, boxy fit.
The London-based brand also confirmed that the Princess wore their Cashmere Straight Sweater Vest in Chestnut Brown ($345).
She styled her look with a tonal floral print silk scarf from Sudbury Silk — a bespoke gift from the fabric mill she toured only last week.
The mill shared a detailed close-up of the fabric on their Instagram page.
The Princess opted for a skirt from the iconic American brand Ralph Lauren, wearing the Evilyn Birdseye Tweed Skirt in Dark Brown ($1,890). Crafted from 100% birdseye wool, the pleated skirt falls below the knee. Its A-line silhouette incorporates “trouser-inspired elements,” including an extended buttoned waist tab, front zipper, coin pocket, and belt loops.
Complementing the outfit was her Polo Ralph Lauren Crocodile-Stamped Leather Belt.
She brought back her trusty Gianvito Rossi Block Heel Boots in brown suede — a custom, pointed-toe version of the brand's ‘Glen 85’ boot.
The Princess completed her look with Spells of Love’s gold Removable Teardrop Garnet Charm Hoops.

It’s always good to see Catherine out and about and looking so well, and a treat also to see her getting to be such good friends with the First Lady. I love the ME+EM contribution to Kate’s latest outfit, the boxy Suede Cropped Military Jacket looks really contemporary and smart. I love how the shortened length means the jacket can hang open easily which is not the case on long double-breasted items.

I enjoyed this engagement with the First Lady, but Catherine's ensemble is a miss for me. The look feels a bit dowdy and ages her unnecessarily. That said, I do like her choice of a cropped jacket, which adds a modern touch, and I can see the intent behind the English country-inspired styling. However, I think tailored trousers might have been a more practical and flattering choice for an event with children.
