Princess Kate in a Naval-Inspired Ensemble for the HMS Glasgow Naming Ceremony in Scotland22/5/2025
On Thursday, The Prince and Princess of Wales were in Scotland to attend the naming ceremony of HMS Glasgow, the UK’s newest Type 26 anti-submarine frigate, at BAE Systems’ shipyard in Scotstoun, Glasgow.
As the ship's Sponsor, Catherine officiated the ceremonial event, christening the vessel by releasing a bottle of Clydeside Distillery whisky against the hull, declaring, “I name this ship Glasgow. May God bless her and all who sail on her.”
Catherine and William later toured the vessel and met with BAE Systems staff and Royal Navy personnel.
The Princess stepped out in a nautical-inspired ensemble, perfectly tailored for the maritime event.
She debuted a Suzannah Simple Coat Dress ($2,495 USD), crafted from lightweight navy Italian wool crepe with a sleek pencil silhouette, accented by crisp ivory trim.
The Philip Treacy Saturn Dome Hat in Navy & White complemented the two-tone dress beautifully, creating a polished and cohesive look.
Kate was seen carrying her Emmy London 'Natasha' Clutch in Midnight.
On her feet were the Gianvito Rossi 'Gianvito 105' Pumps in Bisque Suede.
She accessorized with Princess Diana's Cabochon Sapphire Drop Earrings.
The standout accessory in the Princess of Wales’ ensemble today was a striking new brooch, crafted by Glasgow-based jeweler Simon Porter of James Porter & Son, a fifth-generation family business.
The design showcases the HMS Glasgow crest, with a naval crown positioned above a depiction of St. Kentigern, Glasgow’s patron saint, encircled by thistles—Scotland’s national emblem.

I would never be brave enough to wear suede shoes at a maritime event near all that water and seagull poop 🤣 Though I am very sure Princess Katherine has plenty of safeguards against hazards! 😁

The coat is a size big for her isn't it? Her coat dresses are usually well fitted
