Princess Kate wears separates to expand 'Shaping Us' initiative at the National Portrait Gallery4/2/2025
On Tuesday, the Princess of Wales visited the National Portrait Gallery in London to launch of a new initiative linked to her "Shaping Us" campaign, which highlights the importance of early childhood development.
KATE'S OUTFITBLAZER: NEW! Petar Petrov Wool-Blend Blazer in Brown (US$1,660). PANTS: NEW! Max Mara 'Rea' Pinstriped Trousers in Gray (US$895). EARRINGS: Sézane 'Bruna' Hoop Earrings in Gold (repeat) BRACELET: Halcyon Days Salamander Torque Bracelet in Forget-Me-Not (repeat).
The Princess joined a group of eager pupils from All Souls CE Primary School for a day of art, storytelling, and emotional exploration. Making the journey even more special, Catherine surprised the children by riding with them on the minibus, turning the trip into an adventure with games of "I Spy."
The visit centered on the "Bobeam Tree Trail," an interactive storytelling experience helping young children explore emotions through art. The Princess joined them on the trail, using portraits to spark discussions about feelings. The highlight was the Bobeam Tree exhibit, where audio recordings and props brought the portraits to life, with Catherine encouraging the children to engage and share their interpretations.
The creative journey didn't stop there. The children were then invited to create their own self-portraits, a powerful way to link their emotions to their artistic expressions. This activity offered a tangible way for them to recognize, process, and express their feelings, fostering valuable social and emotional skills.
The Princess of Wales's passion for early childhood development was evident as she highlighted the importance of making emotional learning engaging both in schools and the wider community. This visit further reinforced her commitment to the "Shaping Us" initiative, promoting children's well-being in their early years.

I'm trying out a new blog post format where event details come after the outfit breakdown. Do you prefer reading about the event first or seeing the outfit details upfront?

I like the previous blog post format, keeping the outfit breakdown at the end (I almost did not see the event details). But, this new format is also good!

Hello, Elizabeth. Thank you so much for all of your work. I have often skipped over the event details to see the outfit breakdown. However, in retrospect, I am also interested in the events as they can give context to Catherine's fashion choices. I also believe it is important to highlight the work that she is doing.

This look is a complete miss for me. The colors feel dull, and the oversized fit overwhelms her—almost like the outfit is wearing Kate rather than the other way around. She rarely gets it wrong, but I’d be happy if this ensemble never makes a return!

One of the reasons that I love(d) Kate's style was because of impeccable tailoring, so not liking this.

I like the outfit details first. It helps me focus on how the clothes look from different angles on the event photos. Otherwise I'm thinking "Is that a turtleneck? Does the pant have a stripe?" Putting the outfit first answers those detail questions.

Hi Elizabeth, the format is fine but why did remove the photos from the individual item, lets say I click on the shoes and scroll down to see all the times she's worn it the pictures are no longer there, just the links

I like this brown jacket, especially with the black jumper underneath.
