The Prince and Princess of Wales—known as the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay in Scotland—visited Stirling and Falkirk on Tuesday to highlight Scotland’s rich heritage traditions and how they continue to connect communities and inspire future generations.
Following an impromptu stop at The Kelpies in Falkirk (shown above), the royal couple started their day of engagements at the National Curling Academy in Stirling.
They met members of Team GB and Paralympics Curling Teams to hear about their training ahead of the Commonwealth Games before taking part in a curling game on the ice.
William and Kate then traveled to the heart of Stirling to visit Radical Weavers, a handweaving studio and charity dedicated to preserving traditional crafts. The studio hosts various workshops, including specialized classes in Scottish tartan-weaving.
The Princess sat at a traditional loom to weave an “inch and a half” of what the charity aims to grow into a record-breaking 3km-long tartan scarf (in the Wallace tartan).
After they visited, the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay stopped to greet the crowds that had gathered outside the studio.
The couple’s final stop was The Gothenburg Pub in the former mining village of Fallin. Founded in 1910, The Goth is one of the few remaining Scottish pubs run under the Gothenburg system, which reinvests profits back into the local community.
For their day of engagements in Stirling and Falkirk, the Duchess of Rothesay wore a bespoke blue tartan double-breasted midi coat by London-based tailor Chris Kerr, crafted from wool fabric specially woven by Johnstons of Elgin.
She collaborated closely with Johnstons of Elgin to design the custom tartan pattern, selecting colours that evoke the Scottish Saltire flag.
Kate removed her coat during the visit to the curling centre, revealing her navy ZARA Buttoned Cuff Turtleneck paired with a new navy Le Kilt × Johnstons of Elgin long kilt (£895).
She also wore a new Fair Isle knit vest by Bamford. The owner of the British luxury lifestyle brand confirmed on Instagram that the piece is from their AW18 collection and was made in Scotland from British-spun wool.
For much of the day, the Princess wore her custom black suede block-heel boots by Gianvito Rossi. However, while on the ice at the curling centre, she changed into a new pair of Tod’s ankle boots in black suede (thanks to Kate Middleton Style for the ID).
Priced at $1,095, the Chelsea style boots feature a side elastic inserts, Tod's logo tag and rubber outsole with iconic embossed detailing.
Kate's beloved Sapphire & Diamond Oval Drop Earrings finished the ensemble.

I noticed her coat looked like the brown coat she wore on Christmas

Could it possibly be a mixture of brands or a collaboration

The photo up close of the knit waistcoat, classic Fair Isle pattern is the best I have seen. Thank you Elizabeth. I simply love this vest, it most probably would be wool, very warm. The pattern is pretty. Its so versatile, being able to wear under jackets and coats for extra warmth, marvelous! I wear alo't of vests in cooler weather.
