The Prince & Princess of Wales on Day Two of Royal Visit to the Scottish Isles

On Wednesday, Prince William and Princess Catherine, the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay, concluded their two-day visit to the Scottish Isles with a nature-focused day on the Isles of Mull and Iona.

The day began at Ardura Community Forest on Mull, an ancient Atlantic rainforest. The couple met Countryside Rangers from the Mull and Iona Ranger Service, learning about conservation efforts and biodiversity protection.

They joined the Ardura Acorns, an outdoor playgroup for 0-5-year-olds, engaging in nature trails, den-building, and storytelling. Catherine, a longtime advocate for early years, beamed while playing by the River Lussa, emphasizing the value of outdoor learning.

The couple then took a public ferry to Iona, a tiny island of 170 residents, meeting ferry staff and locals to discuss the island’s traditional way of life and its vital transport links.

They toured Iona to gain insight into the island's rich heritage—from crofting and fishing to community-led initiatives—while also learning about the unique challenges of modern island life and how the community continues to thrive through unity and shared purpose.
