Temperley Ltd. was launched in 2000 by its namesake creative director, Alice Temperley, and quickly became one of Britain's leading designer brands. The Temperley label comprised three lines: Temperley London – a feminine, timeless collection and the brand's flagship line; ALICE by Temperley – a contemporary everyday collection (discontinued in 2014); and Temperley Bridal, which has since expanded to include ready-to-wear alongside bespoke pieces. In September 2012, Alice Temperley made her high street debut with the launch of the Somerset by Alice Temperley collection, created exclusively for John Lewis.
Kate Middleton first wore a Temperley creation in December 2010 to a charity event, marking her first official appearance following the announcement of her engagement to Prince William. Since then, the Duchess of Cambridge has chosen many of Alice Temperley's designs for both formal and informal engagements.
