Decorate like the Duchess
Here on Kate's Closet I aim to help women develop their Duchess-inspired closet on a budget. In this segment, I want to extend that idea to the home!
Thanks to a visit by Barack and Michelle Obama in 2016, we got our first glimpse inside the London residence of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

During the COVID-19 lockdown we got a further peek at the Cambridge home.
From the photos above we see that Kate loves a neutral colour scheme, and has opted for mostly whites and creams for Apartment 1A in Kensington Palace. We can't all live in a palace but here are some tips on how you can repliKate the Duchess' home decorating style and add some royal elegance to your humble abode!
LAMPS
The Cambridges private living quarters in the palace are lit up by many urn and candlestick style table lamps, and a large Jo Malone candle.
SCATTER CUSHIONS
A coordinating mix of printed floral and solid throw pillows create a cosy living space and complement the flower arrangements throughout the room.
ORIENTAL CERAMICS
The Duchess has successfully fused traditional English style with oriental pieces. In the living room we see blue and white Chinese jars atop a low bookcase near the entry of the room, as well as a planter behind the couch, and a large porcelain stool beside the sofa.
ARMCHAIRS
In addition to timeless plush sofas, the the room is tastefully decorated with French-style wing chairs and jacquard accent chairs.
