Kate and her family's shared style -- Carole and Kate

Kate, 34, and her mother, Carole Middleton, 61, share not only great genes but their skinny blue jeans as well!  Like Mother, like Daughter, they say! The two are often pictured wearing each other’s clothing as well as the same designers – they certainly know what they like and what looks good on them. It helps that they wear similarly sized clothes so they can swap closets and share things year after year!

We’ve seen Kate’s style evolve when we first met her as Prince William’s girlfriend, wearing the collegiate necessities of jeans, pearls, and sweater sets (nothing wrong with that!), and now, as his wife, the Duchess of Cambridge, she wears elegant designer gowns and an impeccably put together look. Carole’s stood by her daughter’s side the whole time.

So let’s take a walk down memory lane of some of the mother-daughter duo’s shared styles and preferred designers:

Catherine Walker

• Carole wore this label to Kate and William’s wedding on April 29, 2011 – she looked lovely and sophisticated as a MOB.
• Kate likes the simplicity and sophistication of the designer and wears her on many of her official visits, including the brown wool coatdress  worn to the Irish Guards visit on St. Patrick’s Day, 2015.

Temperley London

• Carole wore a black Temperley gown to Kate’s wedding reception and then recycled the look for a Red Cross Gala in May 2013.
  
• Kate has worn many gowns from the brand, including a gorgeous black lace Amoret dress to the premier of War Horse in January 2012, which she then recycled on two other occasions.

Reiss

• Both Carole and Kate have shared a royal blue dress from this designer.  Carole wore it to the Royal Ascot races in 2010 and Kate wore it again in 2012 at her very first speaking engagement at The Treehouse Children’s Hospice.
• Kate also wore the white ruffle Nanette dress for her engagement photos with famed photographer Mario Testino in 2010 and then again for her first tour of Canada in July 2011.

Jane Corbett

• Carole and Kate both love Jane’s hats. They have both been spotted wearing the same blue fascinator.

Robinson Pelham

• This jeweler designed Kate’s bespoke wedding earrings, and they spoke volumes about her new life as a duchess as they incorporated the acorn and oak leaf, both parts of each family’s coat of arms. The earrings were a gift from Kate’s parents.
• Carole wore the dangling Pagoda style to Kate’s wedding reception. Then she lent them to Kate for the premier of Spectre in October 2015.

• Mother and daughter were photographed at The Festival of British Eventing in 2005. Can you spot the similarity and family resemblance? They truly have great genes!
