Queen Mary's Art Deco Emerald & Diamond ChokerThe choker was created for Queen Mary in the Art Deco style by Garrard in 1921 from a gift of emeralds from the Ladies of India in 1911. The necklace was inherited by Queen Elizabeth II in 1953 but she did not prefer the shortened style. She passed it along to Diana, Princess of Wales as a wedding gift, and it become one of Diana's signature pieces of jewelry. Upon Diana’s death in 1997 the necklace was returned to the Queen. |
