The Prince and Princess of Wales attended the second Earthshot Prize awards this evening at the MGM Music Hall at Fenway. It was the pinnacle event of their 3-day visit to Boston.
The Princess looked glamorous as she stepped out on the green carpet in a rented Solace London 'Sabina' dress.
It was reportedly hired from HURR in London starting from £74. The 'Sabina' is a floor length modern gown featuring an off-the-shoulder neckline and a body-conscious fit.
Kate complemented the bright green gown with emerald jewelry.
For the first time, she wore Queen Mary's Art Deco Emerald & Diamond Choker.
The choker was created for Queen Mary in the Art Deco style by Garrard in 1921 from a gift of emeralds from the Ladies of India in 1911.
It coordinates with the larger heirloom Cambridge Emerald Parure, with which it was often paired.
The necklace was inherited by Queen Elizabeth II in 1953 but she did not prefer the shortened style. She passed it along to Diana, Princess of Wales as a wedding gift, and it become one of Diana's signature pieces of jewelry.
On one occasion she got creative and wore the necklace as a bandeau. Upon Diana’s death in 1997 the necklace was returned to the Queen.
Tonight, the current Princess of Wales coordinated it with a new pair of emerald earrings.
They are the Asprey London Emerald and Diamond Halo Earrings mounted in platinum ($11,375).
Kate completed the look with her Cinderella-inspired Gianvito Rossi 'Rania 105' Pumps.

The Princess of Wales looks outstanding. The sustainable 'Sabrina' gown looks beautiful, with her height she carries this gown off very successfully. Clever choice. Love her Rania 105 pumps. The stunning art deco emerald and diamond choker, looks superb with Catherines slender neck, the choker is shown to its best advantage. This choker was always a favourite of mine, I always loved to see it worn by the late Princess. The subtle emerald and diamond earrings were the perfect choice. I love these earrings. I'm wondering if they were a gift to the Princess.

I thought the use of a rental gown was a masterstroke. I'd been wondering how Kate could show eco-credentials without using a repeat as I thought this was so high profile in the States she'd need a new look. I had guessed a dress in recycled fabric or vintage. Maybe rental almost fits the last category! Like you I loved seeing this choker on the late Princess. A pleasure then for William to see his mother's favourite jewels showcased so brilliantly.

Well said Bertie, I agree, I think Prince William looked very proud of the Princess. 3/12/2022 04:37:36 pm
We, Americans, have to start getting these titles right. Only woman born with the title is a Princess. Princess Anne is correct. Catherine wasn't born a princess so she is not Princess Kate or Princess Katherine. She acquires her title from Prince William who can also be called, William The Prince of Wales. Catherine's only correct title is Catherine The Princess of Wales. We can get away with saying Catherine of Wales ... never Princess Catherine. It was never correct to say Princess Diana as the American press wrongly did. Good blog and detective work in tracking down the dress and jewelry! Great information!

Many who follow this blog are aware of the title. I mean no disrespect when I use it incorrectly. It helps with SEO etc. In the same way Diana, Princess of Wales was referred to as Princess Di, the same will apply to Catherine. The horse has bolted on this. I think it only matters in formal and official settings. The media will always use the truncated title. Happy to hear you enjoy the blog :)

If you're talking about being correct then 'Catherine The Princess of Wales' is not. It's either 'Catherine, Princess of Wales' or 'HRH The Princess of Wales' or 'Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales'. You didn't use punctuation and you only add 'The' when not using her first name.
