Alexander McQueen accessories are currently on sale at Gilt. There's a beautiful collection of handbags, scarves and shoes. Yes, the prices are still expensive, but I think they represent good value for such an iconic designer and a good entry to adding a piece of McQueen to your closet. The sale is on for another 2 days only.
I'll see you all tomorrow with the royal fashion news from Portsmouth!
NEWSGood news! On Sunday 26th July, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will attend the final day of the be the America's Cup World Series in Portsmouth. They will tour the international team areas, visit the new Land Rover BAR headquarters, watch the teams compete, and present medals at the Waterfront Festival Arena. Last year, the Duchess became royal patron of the 1851 Trust and she supported a bid for a British team in the 35th America’s Cup, being led by Sir Ben Ainslie. Then in February this year she visited the new headquarters of the campaign and the 1851 Trust. On both these occasions the Duchess wore nautical themed outfits. I wouldn't be surprised if she continued this theme on race day, but I think we may see her in something a little more casual. Perhaps she will wear the official merchandise of the Ben Ainslie Racing team: REPLIKATE ROUNDUPBelow are my favourite repliKates of the week ... REPLIKATE OUTFITFlannel shirts were big in the early 90's when I was a teen, so I never imagined over 20 years later I would reintroduce this style back into my closet! After seeing Kate looking casual yet chic in the Zara check shirt while on a play date with Prince George, I was keen to repliKate this relaxed farm girl style :) I found a very good alternative for the Zara check shirt from The Iconic and I paired it with my Target maternity jeggings. FYI, I'm not pregnant but these are SOOOOOOO comfortable. As soon as I tried them on in the change rooms I knew they were coming home with me! I competed my repliKate outfit with a pair of olive Hunter wellies. WHAT'S NEW IN KATE'S CLOSET
This week, Kate debuted four new pieces from her closet:
ID UPDATE
This week we had a break-through with identifying the shoes Kate wore to the christening!
The Duchess first wore these nude patent pumps to last year's Buckingham Palace garden party and it was "confirmed" they were the Russell & Bromley '5th Ave' style. I was not convinced and started the hunt again. To my delight, Natalie, a long time reader of Kate's Closet found this stock image on Russell & Bromely's Facebook page from 2012. R&B have now confirmed they are the 'Pointy' style. I'm relieved we can finally put this ID debate to rest!

PRODUCT REVIEW
Margaret (who is not pregnant) took the plunge and bought the Séraphine 'Jolene' knot front maternity dress. Here are her thoughts on the dress:
I purchased the Seraphine Pink Fuchsia Knot Front Maternity Dress which Kate famously wore in the first family photos with baby George. I had contemplated purchasing the dress for a while, but hesitated because of the price. Additionally, I’m not pregnant and don’t plan on becoming pregnant any time soon. However, the dress is designed to be flattering before and after pregnancy. I finally decided to buy it on Amazon because my Prime membership allows me to easily return the dress if it didn’t fit.
The fabric is silky soft and is draped beautifully. Often jersey dresses cling in unflattering places and highlight areas that I’m self conscious of. But this one does not. It is comfortable. The V is not too deep and doesn’t slip or flash my chest. (I’m small busted so this is often an issue with dresses and tops for me.) The dress also doesn’t look like a maternity dress. I decided that the fuchsia color was not the most flattering on my pale skin. I returned the fuchsia color and ordered the green and blue from Seraphine’s website (Amazon didn’t have those colors at the time.) The Amazon.com return was simple and quick. I received the green and blue dresses in about a week from Seraphine. The fit, fabric, etc. was identical to the fuchsia one. I ultimately returned both dresses because of the length. I’m 5’10” and they were just too short for my comfort level, especially in the back. Seraphine returns were simple, but took a little longer than Amazon. Seraphine provides a return label with the dress so all you have to do is put the dress back in the package, stick the new label on and mail it. Sizing is based on bust measurement, but I think there is a lot of flexibility in sizing because of the jersey fabric and cut of the dress. Overall impression: flattering, comfortable dress, but not a great value (almost $100 for a short jersey dress) and too short for me.
