REPLIKATE REVIEW
Melissa L. recently made a few repliKate purchases with very happy results! She kindly reviewed her purchases:
First up was the Tory Butch "Paulina" repliKate from Jane Norman. I didn't get a pic while wearing it, but it was a hit at work. I paired it with plain black heels and replicas of the Mappin Webb Fortune pendant and the Ballon Bleu watch. The dress borders a bit on too short for my comfort, but coworkers assured me that it was fine (though an inch less of skirt and they said it would be too short). It was really comfortable to wear all day. I think I might try it with opaque black tights and patent oxfords for a retro 90s vibe.
Next was my latest attempt at the Issa bird dress. From Dorothy Perkins' Billie and Blossom line, this is a light weight dress that I will not be wearing until late spring. It is very flattering on and runs true to size. The neckline is different from Kate's and the print is larger, but I am happy with it compared to some of my other tries at copying the original.
Lastly is an exact (except for color) replica of the Dolce and Gabbana dress Kate wore on the Canada tour. I check eShakti's site almost daily because they get new stock all the time and found their Dome Button Front Dress (romantic name there) accidentally. I was floored how closely it resembled hers. It only comes in black so I had to decide if I should risk missing it to see if it might be offered in Kate's green or maybe red. Eventually I snapped it up because eShakti pieces can vanish forever. A good call as it sold out a couple days later.
The dress fits perfectly and is made of a substantial, slightly stretchy fabric that just skims my curves. It has a full back zipper so I can step into it, which is a big plus for me. The buttons are decorative. Mine were sewn on crooked, but when I put the dress on, they looked straight so they might have been crooked on purpose. I can't wait to wear it!

IF I WERE KATE'S STYLIST
I'm sure many of you would agree that having the role of Kate's stylist would be the best job in the world! Seriously, how much fun would it be to help Kate shop and experiment with new looks!? In this occasional segment, I showcase my daydream outfits for the Duchess!
I often see comments from readers that they would love to see Kate experiment with bolder choices in the footwear department. The trick to pulling off statement shoes is to keep the rest of your outfit simple with solid colours that complement the print. Whilst leopard print heels are not a style revolution they would be a perfect choice for the Duchess because they are timeless, elegant and project confidence.

My dear friend Giulia, a frequent contributor to Kate's Closet has kindly reviewed her recent gift of the Really Wild Cashmere Mix Cable Crew Jumper. You may recall the Duchess of Cambridge wore the red version for a visit to Haida Gwaii during the 2016 Canadian tour. Here's what Guilia has to say about the luxurious sweater:
I received this sweater as a gift and I couldn't be happier with it!
Packaging and shipping
It arrived in Italy after a bit more than one week and shipping costed £12.00. It comes inside a standard brown package that keeps safe the second real product's box. It is an amazing black box with the brand's name printed on it and two magnets to keep it closed, add an orange ribbon and it will be perfect if you want to give it to someone else as a gift (husbands take notes). The sweater is wrapped using white paper and sticky tags, all with Really Wild logo.
The sweater
So what do I think about the sweater? I would say just stunning. It is simply the softest, warmest and coziest garment I have ever had or seen. Even if it contains only 30% of cashmere and the rest is merino wool, the impression is absolutely the same as pure cashmere. It is made in Scotland and it is very thick. As you can see, I received the grey version, called by the brand "pearl". I would describe it as a light and bright grey that could go with everything without appearing boring or dull. I've also really appreciated the invisible seams; sometimes, especially on these thick sweaters, the seams are very voluminous and annoying, in this case they are completely plain and imperceptible. The cable motifs on the front and the ribs on the wrist, neck and on the lower border are perfectly made. The neckline is made also for those who usually dislike the classic turtleneck because it is wide, comfy and soft; it doesn't squeeze your neck and above all it is something different and pretty uncommon for its design.
Fit and size
It comes in S, M, L. I usually wear XS, UK6 or UK8 so the person that bought it for me chose S. It is very roomy so if you are between sizes then I would suggest to take the next size down (unless you love oversized looks).
It is without doubt the perfect sweater if you love to wear more layers underneath because you have room enough for a tank top and, for example, a shirt or an other thin sweater for the winter months.
A note about the price
It costs 195£ that is a considerable amount but I personally think you will be paid back for sure by the product's absolutely amazing quality. It is not one of those pieces that will go out of fashion in one or two seasons but something you can use year after year. So worth the price. MIX & MATCH
Kate's outfits are always impeccable but can sometimes need a little tweaking for us "normal folk" to adapt for daily wear. In this occasional segment, I show how you can create everyday repliKate outfits by mixing and matching key pieces with your wardrobe essentials!
One of my blog readers from San Fransisco recently purchased the diffusion line repliKate of the Ralph Lauren houndstooth shirt dress. She wanted some inspiration on how to style it for work in the cooler months. She kindly asked if I could do a Mix & Match feature for the dress. Below is an example of how I would repliKate the classic shirt dress for a work day commute to and from the office!
REPLIKATE REVIEW
Good news repliKaters ... there's a new jeweler on the scene specializing in Kate-inspired bling! OakTreeJunction recently launched with a curated range of affordable earrings and necklaces based on styles worn by the Duchess of Cambridge.
This week I received a pair of their beautiful handcrafted earrings inspired by the Pippa Small Kite Double Drop earrings the Duchess wore during the Canadian 2016 tour.
As soon as I opened the little silver box they arrived in, it was love at first site! The hammered effect gives them an authentic touch, and their light weight is perfect for all-day wear. What I love most is the soft jingle sound they make when you move your head :) With a retail price of only US$25, these budget-friendly earrings are a great buy for the savvy repliKater! BRAND BROWSING
Each week I like to devote a little time browsing the websites of Kate's favourite brands and designers.
This week, the Duchess continued her run of experimenting with new labels. She debuted an off-white maxi dress by Self-Portrait, a London-based brand loved by American celebrities including Beyonce, Olivia Palermo and Paris Hilton.
The popular label was founded by Han Chong, a graduate of the prestigious Central Saint Martins fashion school. The school's alumni boasts some of Kate's favorite designers including Alexander McQueen and Christopher Kane. Chong logged a good decade working at other fashion labels before launching Self-Portrait in 2013. Lace is a signature element of his designs and contemporary femininity runs through his collections. Chong's design philosophy resonates with Kate's style so we may see her in any one of these Duchess-worthy looks by Self-Portrait in the near future:
