Today, the Duchess of Cambridge attended her first public engagement since returning from Mustique. She was in Portsmouth to see the progress on the new headquarters of Ben Ainslie Racing (BAR) and the 1851 Trust. The Duchess who is 6 months pregnant glowed in a new ivory coat from Max Mara Studio. The wool coat is the 'Villar' model featuring a belted waist. It is currently on sale for £345, down from £580.  Under her coat she wore a nautical themed dress featuring printed sail boats. @livelovelaugh was quick to identify it as the Somerset by Alice Temperley Boat Print Dress, Black (£99.00).
This is the first time we have seen the Duchess wear a dress from Alice Temperley's diffusion line Somerset, which is exclusive to John Lewis. Alice Temperley has long been one of Kate's favourite designers and the Duchess also likes to frequent John Lewis stores, so it comes as no surprise that she would buy a piece from the Somerset collection. Kate most likely purchased this on her recent visit to John Lewis in mid January.  The dress has now sold out but their are a number of pieces designed with the boat print motif including, a blazer, pants and scarf:  Kate combined the outfit with navy suede accessories including her LK Bennett 'Frome' clutch and Jimmy Choo 'Georgie' pumps.
She finished the look with her sapphire and diamond drop earrings and Ballon Bleu de Cartier Stainless Steel Bracelet Watch. The colour combination of today's outfit is similar to the one she wore eight months ago, when she joined Sir Ben Ainslie tolaunch Britain's bid to win the 35th Americas Cup. Following the launch, the Duchess became Royal Patron of the 1851 Trust, an organization which is the charitable arm of Ben Ainslie's bid to win the America's Cup, and it works with youngsters to build skills and confidence through sailing and maritime projects. Kate took on the role in October last year, saying: "I feel very fortunate to have enjoyed sailing from a young age and I know it is a great way of providing young people with the opportunity to develop skills and confidence. Today, Kate met with children from six local schools who helped create a mural at the site of the new BAR headquarters. It was a community art project, created in collaboration with local street artists James Waterfield and My Dog Sighs. During her visit, Kate added her own artwork to the mural. Later in the afternoon, Kate headed over to the Spinnaker Tower in Gunwharf Quays to get a bird’s eye view of the BAR headquarters. Here she met Portsmouth community members involved the BAR project also viewed exhibits destined for the Visitor Centre for the Trust which will opening in July 2015. SHOP KATE'S STYLE FOR LESS ...
