The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended a special performance of Dear Evan Hansen at the Noël Coward Theatre in London.
This evening's performance of the Tony Award-winning musical, which opened on London’s West End last year, will benefit The Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
Dear Evan Hansen is about a boy with social anxiety and depression navigating his complicated teenage life. It has been credited with helping teenagers speak about mental health and touches on the topic of suicide. Mental health is key priority of William and Kate's work for The Royal Foundation.
The flattering style is from the British brand's AW18 collection. The ready-to-wear piece has a button down front with a pointed collar, and a pleated midi skirt.
A look at the back of the dress.
It appears Kate had the original crown motif buttons replaced with rhinestone buttons.
The Duchess offset the look with her Jimmy Choo 'Romy 100' Silver Glitter Dégradé Pumps
She also carried a coordinating Jimmy Choo 'Ellipse' clutch (US$995) which we are seeing for the first time.
Kate finished the dazzling look with the Queen's Diamond Chandelier Earrings. Kate has worn these earrings on a number of occasions since she first borrowed them from Her Majesty for the 2011 visit to Los Angeles.
Kensington Palace put out a brief clip of tonight's outing.

Kate is the epitome of elegance! This dress has a 50's charm and I love how Kate brought it into the 21st century with the glitter accessories.

I am actually not a fan of this outfit. I think the dress coat is too dark and does not really go well with the shoes and clutch, but as always, Kate looks incredible!

The collar looks like it is still there if you zoom in. It’s just more ‘open?!’

I wonder if we will see this dress used as a “day” dress in the future with different buttons – with the rhinestone ones intended to dress it up? I don’t think it works 100% with the sparkly purse and shoes, but I admire her for trying to get the maximum use out of a design

The Duchess of Cambridge looks radiant and elegant. I love the style of dress, especially the pleating and the rhinestone buttons - the shoes and clutch are perfect accessories.

I love this fabric...but don’t like the design of this dress. It is too dowdy on her. Also agree with others that the shoes and bag are too sparkly with this look.

The Duchess looks lovely, but this is a rare miss for me. A day dress, tweed fabric combined with glitter shoes and clutch for me is a mismatch combination. The dress for night wear is rather bland and unexciting, a brooch would have helped lift the overall effect. Daywear I think it will work much better, but with another choice of shoes and bag. The replaced buttons are a great choice. Earrings are lovely, but not with this dress. Her makeup is superb.

Dress I like. The replacement buttons I like. The earrings I love. The shoes and purse to go with this outfit no I don't like it. But then, I can't figure out what purse/shoes to go with it. It's not an easy dress to accessorize.

I wore these shoes to my wedding, they were beautiful, however, not comfortable at all! I was literally limping in pain after a few hours!! I like the idea of matching the shoes to the clutch, it brightens up the heavy, dark dress. I think we will see Kate get a lot of use from this dress.
