The Duchess of Cambridge visited the Developmental Risk and Resilience Unit at the University College London (UCL) today to see the groundbreaking research neuroscientists are conducting into how environment and biology interact to shape the way in which children develop both socially and emotionally.
Earlier this year, the Duchess set up a steering group made up of practitioners and academics from a range of disciplines, including neuroscience, mental health, nursing, perinatal care and education to
support Early Intervention for young children and families.
Kate wore a familiar look for the visit, sporting her burgundy Paula Ka skirt suit.
The Duchess first wore the outfit by the French brand for an engagement in 2012 at Middle Temple in London, and again in 2017 for a trip to Wales.
Like in 2017, Kate wore it with a black turtle neck top but today she updated the ensemble with her black Tod's Suede Block Heel Pumps.
We saw the return of her much loved Mulberry 'Bayswater' Black Suede Clutch.
The Duchess accessorized with the Asprey London Oak Leaf Small Hoop Earrings, and also wore her Cartier Ballon Bleu Watch.
Kate wore her hair pulled back in a playful ponytail and tied with a black velvet ribbon.
It is possibly the J.Crew black velvet hair tie (US$22.50) as suggested by @Palace_Avenue on Twitter.

I'm so delighted Kate is repeating more of her wardrobe, but I can't help but think she's suffering from arrested development when it comes to her sartorial choices. That bow in her ponytail is too cutesy and juvenile for a meeting with professionals and scientists. She struggles to look sharp, always looking girly. It would have been fine had she been meeting with children but she looks out of place in these professional settings and especially for someone in her mid 30's. Her lack of work experience shows.

I have to disagree. I think the bow is a nice touch. I understand where you are coming from but do disagree.

Completely disagree. The Duchess looks polished and professional. She rarely puts a foot wrong when it comes to her work or her appearance. I applaud the way that she reworks existing pieces in her wardrobe to make them look slightly different on each appearance. The velvet bow to her ponytail is a small but charming addition to a lovely winter look. Hardly big enough to warrant a comment about.

Agreed. She seems to be flitting between too girlish and TOO matronly quite often of late, save for exceptional appearances when she nails her look. Crown Princess Mary would be the one for her to watch to really hit her sartorial stride.

At first I thought she tried to fit in with the university students. Then on second glance through the pictures, I tend to agree with Royal Watcher, she looks out of place. She could have still look modern (for students watching her) instead of looking girly (the bow and frill in skirt) or too student like. I think the outfit is a miss and that she looks to aware of the short skirt that was not necessary.
