Kate debuts vibrant pink Alexander Mcqueen sheath dress for first meeting with Dr Jill Biden

The Duchess of Cambridge and US First Lady, Dr. Jill Biden met for the first time today ahead of the G7 Summit reception in Cornwall tonight.

The pair visited Connor Downs Academy located in a small Cornish village to hold a roundtable discussion with Early Years education experts from the UK and USA.

Dr. Biden has a doctorate in educational leadership, and both she and the Duchess share a passion for early childhood development.

Kate premiered a dahlia-pink Alexander McQueen Leaf-Crepe Midi Dress (ID by @katiesroyallove).

The £1,175 short-sleeve sheath dress has a round neck with pleat detailing, and is finished with back zip fastening. Kate added a matching belt to cinch in the waist.

She carried the L.K.Bennett 'Milly' Nude Leather Mini Handheld Bag (ID by @emgcollins). The £225 mini bag is crafted in Spain from nude nappa leather, and features a grab handle and detachable crossbody leather strap, a gold-tone metal lock front and is finished with brogue detailing.

On her feet were the Rupert Sanderson 'Malory' pumps in Nude Kid Leather.

Kate accessorized with her gold-plated ASOS Twist Hoop Earrings.

She wore the Amaia Cotton Face Mask in Pepper Liberty Print.

Another fine offering from McQueen with all its typical finish, but I'm not sure the style is the best pick for Kate. The reinforced shoulders only exaggerate the inverted triangle shape Kate' already suffers from and might be best advised to avoid. Obviously it's current fashion and Kate has too much discretion to go overboard, but it's a shame how loose the resulting full bodice becomes around the waist. While I don't know if it would be improved by leaving the belt off, as per the studio shots, the effect of pulling fabric in is to look ill-fitting, as if Kate is thin rather than healthily slender.

I love the accessories, the pale nude works well with bright fuschia. The LKB Milly bag is just cute and the Sanderson pumps continue to give good service. At the heart of it all, Kate remains as beautiful as ever.

I have to agree with Bertie. Kate is a beautiful woman but for some reasons several times she does not pick what flatters her figure best. I appreciate she prefers a rather classic sense of fashion, but with that wonderful body it is a pity

Raspberry pink - this is a fabulous colour and the Duchess of Cambridge wears it so well. It reminds me of the beautiful paperbag style dress she wore to Princess Eugenie's wedding. Both dresses have a similar neckline and come from the same design company.

The simple shift style and short sleeves make it en pointe for a summer's day meeting. It's good to see the bold fuschsia pink jacket of FLOTUS Dr Jill Biden alongside this raspberry colour. Both women stand out. I really like the FLOTUS' shoes. The Duchess has a super cute new bag.

What a great idea to have these two women meet at a combined event to discuss their similar visions for the importance of early childhood development.

I thought the dress looked lovely on Kate, I loved the belt, the pleating at the neckline and the colour. The accessories were perfect.
