The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge arrived at Pakistani Air Force Base Nur Khan, Rawalpindi this evening to start their five-day royal tour of the country.
Kate wore a bespoke ensemble by Catherine Walker. The design appears to take inspiration from a shalwar kameez - the national dress of Pakistan consisting of trousers (shalwar) and a loose dress (kameez). The sky blue dress has a subtle ombre effect and the top is fashioned with a drape that extends to the back. The long sleeves feature tonal decorative buttons which run from the cuff to just below the elbow. Below is a ready-to-wear cocktail dress by Catherine Walker featuring a similar ombre effect. The Duchess carried a new minaudière. It is the Zeen Cream Gleam clutch ($29) made from a gilded faux leather. ID by @innominate_93. Kate's earrings are also by the Pakistani brand. They are the Zeen Beaded Chandelier earrings ($10). ID by @ufonomore. I'll conclude with some footage of William and Kate at the air base after disembarking from the plane.

Pure perfect from Kate! This is an elegant ensemble and I particularly like the ombre effect of the dress. I can't wait to see the rest of the tour wardrobe. If this first look is anything to go by, then we are in for a real treat!

Wow! This is an elegant and glamorous outfit that reflects the culture of the host nation yet makes a statement its own right. Kate looks stunning and with her nod to a local brand in her choice of earrings and clasp purse, she is providing fresh air to this manufacturer. I love the ombre shading on the dress and to see it enhanced in the subtle shading changes on the sleeve buttons is a master stroke by Catherine Walker.

I agree, what an entrance! Fabulous ombré gown; the colour, the style, the drape - breathtaking. Prince William looked very handsome too!

I love this whole look. My only critique would be..it would have been more appropriate to use a Pakistani designer...but love that she still used an English one!

I never paid too much attention to Kate until Meghan began dating Harry. Suddenly the fab four was all over the news. Now that I'm watching, I'm stunned at how elegant and graceful Kate is and how refined her clothing choices are. She dresses as close to Diana's elegant style than anyone else out there. That said, when will the outfit she's wearing be available to purchase? I would love to wear this!

This is a beautiful outfit. The colour is very becoming. Love the back and front draping of the neckline, so soft looking. The fall and flow of the gown is wonderful. The buttons on the sleeves are a lovely touch and finish the traditional dress off perfectly. The back view of the Duchess descending the stairs is stunning. The close up of her face bending down, her make up looks so natural, highlights her natural beauty. She looks beautiful.

So beautiful! I was looking forward to this Pakistan tour, and Kate did not disappoint. I really like the purse and am pleasantly surprised that it is reasonably priced.
