The Duke & Duchess of Cambridge were the guests of honour this evening at the Royal Variety Performance at the Palladium Theatre in London.
This is the third occasion William and Kate have attended the star-studded show in aid of the Royal Variety Charity, of which The Queen is Patron.
Tonight, Kate premiered a bespoke floor-length black lace overlay gown by Alexander McQueen.
Designed with a nude underlay that creates a sheer illusion, the gown is cut with a subtle sweetheart neckline trimmed with black velvet. A look at the back of the dress. The Duchess accessorized with her black Jimmy Choo 'Celeste' Velvet Clutch and the designer's 'Romy 100' Black Velvet Pumps.
Kate topped off the glamorous look with her Erdem Floral Hoop Earrings.

Her hair and make up look great. I LOVE these earrings!!! I love the intricacy of the dress...especially at the wrist...I don’t like the velvet at the neck and armpits. The velvet belt would look ok, I think, without the others, I like how this neckline is very deep and wide...but is not risqué at all...and it is obviously tailored to her body.

I want to love this dress, but from a distance it looks like Kate is wearing lingerie. It's also very similar to the other black Alexander McQueen lace gown. If you're going to spend money on a new gown why not go for something a bit more original?

Kate looks absolutely stunning in this dress. I especially like the deep "U" back. She never fails to wear anything that doesn't look gorgeous on her! So elegant!

She looks gorgeous. Love the hair and earrings. At first I didn’t know if I like the dress. But after seeing a lot of different pictures I started loving the dress. I love how it fits perfectly 👌🏼

The Duchess looks lovely. The shape is flattering, the gown floats beautifully as she walks, but this is a rare miss for me. Personally not a fan of nude/lighter lining or this particular lace pattern. The velvet banding, very heavy looking. A different choice of gown would have been a game changer, a break from the lace, this reminds me of other gowns worn previously, the Duchess loves lace, that is fine. Earrings are nice, but not with this dress. Some dazzling chandelier diamonds would have been perfect from the palace jewel box!,but this is personal preference only. It is great to see the couple so engaging and happy.

Her earrings are beautiful. The dress......I like the overall lace look BUT the placement of the lace round shapes on the bust part is very unfortunate. Looks like two bra cups. Your comment will be posted after it is approved.
