The Duke and Duchess kicked off their joint tour with a visit to the Turning Point Scotland centre in North Lanarkshire. The couple heard how the organisation works to break down cycles of crime and addiction.
Kate and William then visited the Scottish Violence Reduction Unit (SVRU) - a national center to target violence wherever it occurs whether it’s on the streets, in our schools or in our homes. Supported by the Scottish Government and Police Scotland, the SVRU uses a public health approach to treat and end violence.
Before turning in for the day, the Duke and Duchess welcomed volunteers from Sikh Sanjog to the Palace of Holyroodhouse - the official residence of the British monarch in Scotland, and their base during the tour.
They cooked up a storm in the Palace's café kitchen to prepare meals to be distributed to vulnerable families across the Edinburgh community.
