The Prince and Princess of Wales greeted the President of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa, on behalf of The King, at Corinthia Hotel in London on Tuesday morning.
President Ramaphosa is on a 3-day State Visit to the United Kingdom, the first of King Charles III's reign.
Following the greeting, the royal couple traveled with the President to Horse Guards Parade for the Ceremonial Welcome where he was formally received by King Charles and Queen Camilla.
Afterwards, President Ramaphosa joined The King and The Queen Consort, and the Prince and Princess of Wales for a carriage procession along The Mall to Buckingham Palace for a private lunch.
Kate wore a berry ensemble consisting of a pleated coatdress with a surplice bodice and peaked lapels. It's reportedly a bespoke piece by Emilia Wickstead.
She wore a coordinating pillbox hat with a bow on the back by Sean Barrett. You may recall the princess has this same style in sapphire blue.
The princess complemented the look with her Mulberry 'Bayswater' clutch in Cranberry Suede, and on her feet where the Gianvito Rossi 'Gianvito 105' suede pumps in Royale Burgundy.
Kate wore Princess Diana's Collingwood Pearl Earrings, and for the first time, the Prince of Wales Feathers Brooch with emerald pendant.
This royal heirloom was a wedding gift from the 'Ladies of North Wales' to Princess Alexandra of Denmark when she married the Prince of Wales, later King Edward VII, in 1863. It was passed down and The Queen Mother then gave this brooch to Diana when she got engaged to Prince Charles in 1981. Marianna's blog has the full history of the brooch.
Later this evening, The Prince and Princess of Wales will attend the State Banquet for the President of South Africa at Buckingham Palace.

Kate has really got her professional princess style on top form with this outfit. The deep berry colour is gorgeous and the fit of the coat immaculate. I like the handling of fabric on the coat skirt, if it is Wickstead then the sewn down pleats make a fine job of managing this amount of fabric without swamping the wearer.

The HRH Princess of Wales looks lovely. I love the coat dress by Emilia Wickstead, the designer added some interesting elements to the standard coat dress such as the pleats in the front which we have not seen before. The plum colour is beautiful for the Princess. The hat and jewellery are perfect. I never would have put the plum colour of the dress with the Burgundy clutch or shoes, but they work beautifully together. This will be something I will have to experiment with.

This is a glorious outfit. I like the cut and fit of this dress. The rich berry color I love. The accessories same color work in well. I love the emerald brooch, stunning. The Collingwood pearl earrings are beautiful, but IMO it is a mismatch with the emerald brooch. I would have loved to see the Princess wear the emerald earrings that go with the set. Regardless of my tastes, she looks immaculately groomed.

This is a gorgeous color on Kate and the perfect backdrop to highlight the brooch. I agree with Ava, emerald earrings would have been better as I find the earring she wore clash and compete with the brooch. 24/11/2022 12:32:32 pm
Curious how these coat dresses open and close, is there a zipper in the back?

In some pictures a join can be seen at the back on the self belt, it's plain, no buckle. I imagine the belt comes off and the coat opens out at the front as usual.

Has she worn these earrings before? I tried looking for it in the jewellery section but couldn't find so thinking if she has worn this only once?

Kate has worn Princess Diana's Collingwood Pearl Earrings on many occasions since 2017. Sorry, I have not yet added them to the Jewellery section.
