King Charles III hosted his first State Banquet as monarch this evening in honour of President Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa who is on a State visit to the United Kingdom.
The Prince and Princess of Wales partook in the evening along with other members of the Royal family. Below we see the royal couple arriving at Buckingham Palace.
Below are highlights from the State banquet.
The Princess wowed in a white Jenny Packham cape-sleeve gown for her fifth State dinner.
The floor-length dress is a custom creation based on Jenny Packham's 'Elspeth' design from the 2023 Bridal Collection. The long cape sleeves feature a heavy beaded detail down the shoulder. The ready-to-wear version has a keyhole open back which Kate had modified to a full back coverage.
The Princess wore the Royal Victorian Order sash and badge, along with the Maltese Cross. You may recall the Duchess of Cambridge was appointed Dame Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order in April 2019 by The Queen for services to the Sovereign.
Kate pinned her recently acquired Bentley & Skinner Art Deco Diamond Set Brooch to the sash.
Affixed to the left side of her dress was the Royal Family Order of Queen Elizabeth II which the Duchess was awarded in 2017.
Kate donned the Queen Mary Lover's Knot tiara which she complemented with Princess Diana's horseshoe diamond & pearl drop earrings.
She also wore Queen Elizabeth II's four-stranded pearl bracelet.
Kate carried her white Alexander McQueen butterfly box clutch.
The Princess completed the look with her silver Gianvito Rossi 'Rania 105' Pumps.

The Princess looks exquisite but I was really hoping for a different tiara.

What an absolute triumph this Packham dress is, maximum impact from minimal lines and colour. The famous Packham embelliment is there but adapted to epaulette-style shoulders The extended sleeves are striking yet well within the classic silhouette.

Wow, the Princess of Wales achieves an elegant look so effortlessly, yet again. Using a gown from Jenny Packham's bridal collection to wear to a diplomatic reception is a clever choice of dress. The heavily embellished and beaded shoulders remind me of the beautiful dress she wore to last year's premiere of James Bond film, 'No time to die'.
