Royal Tour Day 1, Mumbai: Duchess Kate kick starts tour in Alexander McQueen paisley dress10/4/2016
The Royal Tour has commenced! The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge touched down in Mumbai at approximately 11 am local time to embark on a week-long visit of India and Bhutan.
William and Kate's first stop on the subcontinent was the Taj Palace Hotel, where they are staying during their time in Mumbai.
The Taj was one of the scenes of the 2008 Mumbai terrorist attacks. The Duke and Duchess are following in the footsteps of other world figures, including The Prince of Wales and The US President who have both used their stays at the hotel to display solidarity with the people of Mumbai. On arrival, William and Kate paid their respects to the the victims of the terrorist attacks and laid a wreath at a memorial inside the hotel. Despite the long-haul overnight flight, the Duchess of Cambridge looked fresh in a bold Alexander McQueen paisley-print dress (ID by Call Me Kate). The design is from the upcoming pre-fall 2016 collection, and is available as a dress or separates. Kate had the top modified with longer 3/4 sleeves.
Kate accessorized with her Cassandra Goad 'Temple of Heaven' earrings.
In a addition to a new dress, Kate also debuted a set of neutral accessories. She carried the Russell & Bromley 'Curvy' clutch bag, crafted in luxurious taupe suede with a gunmetal frame and clasp closure. It retails for £165.
On her feet were a pair of LK Bennett pumps. The British brand confirmed via Instagram that Kate wore their 'Fern' court shoes in trench leather.
Following lunch at the hotel, William and Kate will head to Oval Maidan, a recreation ground in the south of the city for a game of cricket with some of the city’s poorest children.
