The Prince and Princess of Wales attended the Irish Guards St. Patrick's Day Parade on Friday at Mons Barracks in Aldershot, England.
Catherine attended the traditional celebration for the first time as Colonel of the Regiment since taking on the role from Prince William. She presented fresh shamrock sprigs to the officers and guardsmen, and later made a speech.
The royal couple posed for official photos then joined senior guardsmen for a celebratory drink.
Kate looked impeccable in a military-inspired teal coat crafted by London-based atelier, Catherine Walker.
The shade is departure from the usual dark green she tends to favor for St Patrick's Day. According to Kate Middleton Style, the new colour choice was intentional and reflects the hue of the Irish Guards’ plume and their regimental badge. The colour is officially called "St Patrick's Blue". This can be seen on Prince William's Irish Guards uniform during Trooping the Colour, as shown below.
Gert's Royals notes the buttons on Kate’s coat follow the same pattern as the ones found on the Irish Guards uniform - four buttons followed by a gap and another four buttons. The standup collar is also inspired by the regimentals.
Below is a look at the back of the bespoke coat.
The Princess debuted Jane Taylor's 'Clio' cocktail hat (£1,450) today in a coordinating hue. ID by Kate Middleton Style.
The made-to-order hat features a hand-sculptured heart-shaped base made from a luxurious felt with a tonal pleated crin detail which fans around the side.
During the occasion, Kate carried a new variation of her favourite Emmy London 'Natasha' clutch in the colorway called Lake. Additionally, she also brought along a new pair of teal leather gloves by Dents.
On her feet she premiered a familiar style of shoe, the Gianvito Rossi 'Gianvito 105' suede pump, but in a new teal colour.
Kate wore her Emerald & Diamond Oval Earrings, and completed her St Patrick's Day look with the gold three-leaf shamrock brooch, pinned just above her sprig of shamrock. The piece belongs to the Irish Guards who loan it to the Princess for the occasion.
